The Defense and Prosecution Rested

The defense and prosecution rested their case today in the trial of Laura Kriho, a Gilpin County resident being charged with contempt of court for her service as a juror.

In a surprise decision, Judge Nieto will allow lawyers one week to submit legal briefs on the case. After the briefs are submitted, Judge Nieto will set a date for issuing his ruling on the case.

Laura Kriho said after the trial, "I'm glad it's over. I hope no other jurors have to ever go through this. It is completely distasteful to have the prosecutor questioning jurors about their deliberation processes in another case."

Updates will follow.
